Dr. Yan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering (CMSE) and the Department of Mathematics at Michigan State University.  His research interests include:

• Optimization methods and their applications in sparse recovery and regularized inverse problems

• Variational methods for image processing

• Parallel and distributed algorithms for solving big data problems
